Tom’s Story

I feel positive in the knowledge that I am making decisions to help shape my future and get me into a working environment that suits me.

Tom worked for the NHS for five years before getting married and setting off to explore the world with his new wife. On his return to the UK he had several short-term job roles but suffered from mental health issues and is currently unemployed.

“At times I find being unemployed really tough. I have never struggled with written job applications, but I have confidence issues and tend to struggle with the interview process.”

Tom was introduced to Routes via his wife. “Initially I was quite nervous, but my Routes Advisor made me feel at ease immediately. The interactions have helped me to funnel my ideas and goals; they have challenged me to look inward to figure out where I want to go with my career. The support and constructive assistance of my Routes Advisor has helped to build my confidence and is giving me the tools I need to achieve both career and life goals.”

“I am still on my journey with Routes, but I feel positive in the knowledge that I am making decisions to help shape my future and get me into a working environment that suits me, such as marketing.”
